The HEROP team is excited to finally share a project that’s been cooking for a little over a year with our collaborators! OurAir Chicago is a mapping dashboard designed to connect air quality data with scientific exploration, community empowerment, and advocacy.

It links the new Open Air sensor network (largest in the U.S., 2nd largest in world) with more interactions; additional data like tree canopy, heat, & redlining; and integrates dozens of resources into one website. Also available en Espanol, po Polsku, and in Mandarin!

OurAir was co-designed with Chicago Environmental Justice Network, GROW GREATER ENGLEWOOD, Little Village Environmental Justice Organization, Openalnds, Neighbors For Environmental Justice, People for Community Recovery, Pilsen Environmental Rights and Reform Organization (P.E.R.R.O.), The Southwest Collective, Mujeres for Espacios Verdes, and the People’s Response Network, Benjamin Barrett, Benjamin Campbell, Bill Miller, beth beyer, Christine Dannhausen-Brun, Daisy Magana, Alex Peimer, Julia McKenna, & More.

Healthy Regions and Policies led the development of the dashboard project, in collaboration with the UIC team led by Professor Serap Erdal. We are so grateful to be included in this work.
