Fall Hourly Communications Research Assistant
The Heathy Regions and Policies Lab and the Department of Geography & GIScience (UIUC) is seeking an undergrad or grad hourly student assistant with dynamic and creative skills to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for content creation, event hosting, and archiving. This role will involve a variety of tasks, including social media content creation, external communications, and archiving/organizing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Social Media: Help develop social media content, manage and maintain our social media channels, creating short and engaging content to build our audience.
- Blog Posts: Write informative and engaging blog posts surrounding public health equity, social determinants of health, and/or events for lab members and guests.
- Peer Review and Idea Bouncing: Collaborate with Research Coordinator and other Research Assistants on ideas for social media promotions and blog posts.
- Lab Activities: Assist in planning, organizing, and attending regular and special lab activities and events (academic schedule permitting).
- Archival Work: Assist in organizing and preserving existing lab projects and materials.
Qualifications:
- Excellent creative writing skills
- Proficiency in the generation of social media graphics (preferably, Canva)
- Time commitment of about 10 hours weekly (min: 8 hrs, max: 12 hrs)
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Passion for storytelling and creative projects and openness to learn on the go.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with social media management, content generation, and external communications.
- Experience with organizing and archiving important documents.
